Today is special in many ways. First off, I am blogging in English 🙂 secondly, I just had my debut in sewing dresses. Since I only have three boys at home, I never really needed to deal with making girl’s clothing, although I enjoyed sewing a few tiny items for my friends‘ baby girls, but they were all Jersey knits.
Now when Marte, from the belgian label Compagnie M. approached her pool of test seamstresses (which I am a proud part of 🙂 ), I just couldn’t resist when I saw the first test dress.
What really stroke me with the „Ileana“ dress is that it is so versatile. It comes with so many options that it is almost hard to make a decision what to sew. There are two different bodices, a regular one and a raglan version, four different sleeve options, an equal amount of collar options and an optional button placket. Furthermore you can choose between a half circular and a full circular skirt and also you can add three different types of pockets to the skirt. The variety of different dresses that were sewn during the pattern test is breathtaking and I hope you will find many of them on the web.
With the code ILEANA10 you will get a 10% discount on both the paper and the digital version of the pattern in Compagnie M.’s web shop. This code is valid until August 11th, 2015.
For my „Ileana“ dress I chose a regular bodice with cap sleeves and a round Peter Pan collar which I added buttons to and dropped the button placket instead.
The fit is perfect due to an invisible zipper in the back but your girl still has enough room to move around.
It is an everyday dress but also quite festive if sewn with delicate fabrics.
In this dress I added some little details with freemotion embroidered Alice in Wonderland designs and contrasting bias tape on the skirt’s hem.
Love the pockets ❤
Now, for my first ever real dress, the „Ileana“ was the perfect choice for me. If I ever get the chance, I will definitely make another one. Just need to find another girl who wants one 😉
